Solar Power

The right time for installing on-site electrical generation has arrived. As the price of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels continue to drop and electricty prices inevetably rise, small residential systems (1-5 kW) are now affortable energy solutions. E & E Electric is NABCEP certified in Residential Grid-tie PV System Design and Installation. We will work with you in the design of your system and guide you through the various state and federal incentive programs. Our services continue through the installation and maintence of your solar PV system.

Solar FAQs:

How much space does my system need? - Current panel peak watt output requires 100sf of per kW generated. However, specfic site shading analysis is needed to size any particular system.

How much space does my system cost? - Our services include detailed cost analysis and buy-back time.

Will the utility company buy my unused electricity? - Net Metering is available in and around the Chicago area. This special meter rolls backward when you generate more electricity than you use.

Do I need a new roof? - Solar PV panels will last well over 25 years, so it makes sense to have the roof in good condition prior to PV installation. However, once in place, the panels greatly reduce wear by blocking UV rays, snow and ice. Our service includes a roof accessment to determine your particular needs.

What happens if the panels get covered by snow? - Snow cover greatly reduces output and is taken into consideration. However, flat roof systems with tilted panels (42 degress in Chicago) capture more sunlight throughout the year while shedding any snow that accumulates.
